On the boys’ final Wednesday off school we took a day trip – in slightly murky weather – to Fanjeaux and Castelnaudary.
It may have been the weather, but Castlenaudary was a bit of a disappointment. There were some interesting sights to see, but the town seemed somehow less preserved, and less attractive than I was expecting. It was one of those days where we only managed to find an ‘average’ lunch.
We did take the time to visit the old windmill above the town, which Oliver managed to climb via the narrow ladder staircase despite his fear of heights.
Having said that, the canal is lovely, and we enjoyed watching a canal boat navigate the section of five locks right in the town. This took a good 15 minutes and was great entertainment.
