Arriving at Quillan

After 72 hours of travelling, including breaks to sleep at Narita and Toulouse, we arrive at Quillan. It is the first day of December, it is cold, and it is very beautiful.

We are asleep by 8pm. After a deep sleep I feel refreshed and ready for the day ahead. I check the time and am dismayed to find that it is only midnight. Intermittent sleep after that gets us through to 5.30am.

Ollie, Nicholas, and I – the three travelers – go out two hours later to climb up to the castle. There is a hard frost. We wear many layers but someone is missing a hat and someone else is missing gloves. We are not prepared for this much cold. We love it.

  1. It will take us a few days to get back into the rhythm of being a family of five again! For now, it’s 7.30pm on a Friday night, the travelers are all asleep upstairs, and Tomos and I again have the place ‘to ourselves’… 😉
